Love and Hurry are Incompatible

You know that word "REST" we've been hearing about? Yeah, it used to bug me because it felt like giving up. But lately, I've been thinking a lot about it. The past year has been full of surprises, and REST keeps showing up in random places - podcasts, stories from friends, and even research stuff. Got me curious, you know?

So, I thought, why not give it a shot? I took a break and marked two weeks on the calendar for vacation in July. I was excited but also nervous to see what REST is all about.

During my break, I listened to this podcast by Annie F. Downs, where she talked about REST and what it means to her—got me thinking even more.

Then, she mentioned the book, "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" by John Mark Comer. And wow, it hit me hard. One quote stood out, "Hurry is violence on the soul." I realized I'm always rushing, not taking time to appreciate life. Comer said something else that hit me, too - "Hurry and love don't go together." I reflected on how I can slow down and make more room for love.

So, now I'm all in for REST. It's about finding harmony, you know? Living in sync with my community, taking long walks, and making space for creativity to flow. Plus, I'm all about those coffee dates with friends, old and new. There's something magical about sharing passions and being there for each other.

Oh, and futbol! I'm a huge fan, and now I found a new group of friends to enjoy watching games with and discussing the plays! It's like a shared joy that is bringing us closer.

And here's the big one - I took a break from social media. Deleted the apps from my phone and used this app to limit my time on the laptop. It's been freeing, to be honest. Now I can be fully present with my loved ones, with no distractions.

As I gear up for the new school year, I'm holding on to two sayings: "Clear is Kind" and "Hurry and love are incompatible." They're like little reminders to slow down and make mindful choices. I want to see how embracing these practices will impact my life personally and professionally this year.

So, what about you? What does REST look like for you? I'd love to hear your thoughts and maybe even try this journey together!

In a nutshell, REST isn’t about giving up or losing. It's about finding peace and joy in the crazy rush of life. I know there'll be days when I slip back into old habits, but that’s okay- we're all learning, right? REST is now part of my life, and I'm ready for whatever comes next!

Let’s embrace REST together!
